BAGUA ZHANG

Grand Master Dong Hai-chuan founded Baguazhang in the early 19th century. Its system of practice is based on circular stepping motions from Taoist practices combined with combat techniques from martial arts.

Baguazhang applies the basic theory of I-Ching, i.e. restless in motion and endless in changes. Its skills involve never-ceasing movements of vertical and horizontal dimensions. Baguazhang seizes every opportunity to attack and execute changes. Moving is its essence and changing is its rule.
